The Crowded Room (TV)

I was really only interested in watching this show because I like Tom Holland. I didn’t watch any trailers and had no idea what it was about but, from Tom Holland’s Instagram posts, I gathered there was some sort of mystery with clues dropped in each episode. But from the very first scene of the show, I knew what the major twist would be.

I honestly don’t know if it was made extremely obvious or if I somehow just guessed it, but I knew from the beginning. My early prediction made watching the show less about going along for a ride and more about waiting to see if I would be proven right. It took so long to get to the reveal that I felt like all the episodes before it just dragged while I was waiting for it.

Regardless of that, in general, I felt like the show was fairly entertaining but definitely too long. Certain aspects were stretched more than they needed to be and many scenes felt like filler. It took until episode 3 for me to even be slightly invested. The series could probably have benefitted from being 2-4 episodes shorter and following a quicker pace.

The dialogue also felt a little heavy-handed from time to time, just blatantly saying the point they were trying to get across instead of conveying it through the story or the scene. I don’t think this took away from the show at any point but it did prevent it from feeling more elevated.

Overall this show was fine. I don’t want to say too much about it and reveal anything incase anyone may watch it in the future. It kept me mostly entertained and interested while watching it, but I didn’t come away from it with any new or lingering thoughts, feeling, questions, etc. Another one that you could easily take or leave.
