I think I mean it this time when I say I don’t have a lot to say about this one. It’s a fairly basic, dark crime-thriller. I thought it was entertaining enough but nothing particularly innovative or exciting. It had very similar vibes to Mare of Easttown and Se7en, both of which are much better than this movie, but all of them have a very dark, grim, no nonsense take on the crimes and the lives of the detectives in charge of the cases. The performances were all good but not overwhelmingly so. Benicio Del Toro and Alicia Silverstone both played their characters in a slightly off-kilter way that was a little weird but worked in the movie. Justin Timberlake was (maybe not surprisingly?) very convincing as a person of questionable morality. When I work from home, I usually have either Criminal Minds or Law & Order: SVU on in the background and this movie fit into that space nicely. Another take it or leave it watch – it won’t waste your time, but if you skip it you’re not missing anything.
